The Cabinets Have Arrived! - September 2, 2023

My sister Beth came out for Geff's installation as the Colorado Elks Assocation's President, and of course we had to show her the house on her first full day in Colorado.  I'm glad we did, because the cabinets have arrived:

And, the front of the house is looking good, too.

Checking in on the Progress - August 27, 2023

We stopped by the house to see the progress.  Marge's shower is looking great:

No barriers to enter this shower

We also stopped downstairs and took a look in the mechanical room:

Progress with the Tiling - August 13, 2023

I am way behind updating this blog, although fortunately I am not too far behind in taking photos.

Back on August 13, we checked in on the progress of the two bathrooms.  The master bath looked like the following:

The tiles were going up in Marge's bathroom:

It is so exciting to see the progress.

While we were there, we also had to choose the tile for the office nook.  We had requested that since we decided not to go with bricks in the kitchen that we wanted some in the office area.  Here were our choices:

Sometimes, we see things (that the builder goes ahead and fixes) that just make us twinge.  On this particular day, it was the downspouts...

A trailer was still on this downspout  :(

But, the hardwood floors sure made up for the disappointment of the carelessness with the downspots:

The progress on the tile helped as well.

Still loving the master shower area

And, work has started on Marge's shower.  There will be no physical barriers between the toilet area and the shower area for safety reasons.

Feeling More Like Our Home

It has been fun watching the progress, but up until now, it has felt more generic.  Now, some of our personal choices are starting to be visible.  First up, is the front door.  Yes, it will be cleaned up yet, but the door from the old house is now in place in our new house:

I like the stonework

Inside, the vinyl flooring option that we picked for those rooms that need more water-proof flooring has a sample available:

Jumping around a little bit, the deck just needs a railing and the stairs:

The tile is going up in the master bathroom.  It looks as good as we were hoping it would:

And, more of the hardwood flooring has been put down:

And, finally, we have paint options:

We're seeing progress in multiple areas this week.

Starting the Flooring & Painting

We were on vacation for 9 days and while Geff had stopped by to check on the progress, this evening was the first time I had made it over to the house. The painters were still working on the outside when we arrived.

Painting on the outside has started

The side with the garage door is in the process of being painted, the front side only has the paint samples.

We went in through the garage door into the hallway by the laundry room.

The tile is a little darker than I had expected, but it seemed to anchor the room fairly well.

Then, we checked out the master bathroom. It took me a minute to realize that the orange material was the floor heater.

I think I am going to be really happy when winter comes to have the floor heater.

In the main room, the paint samples for the inside and stacks of hardwood flooring waited for us.

Finally Getting Back to the Hobbies

Once the sod was in, time sped up for a while.  We soon found ourselves in the new house, but having to wait for the certificate of occupanc...
