Why Not Just Remodel?

 A couple of people have asked why we don't just remodel the existing house instead of tearing it down and rebuilding.  Twenty years ago, that might have been a possibility, but today it isn't.  After not being lived in and taken care of for two decades, there are a few holes in the roof.  This is the ceiling of one of the rooms in the back of the house:

While this is the worst of the damage, there are pockets of damage throughout the house.
