The Start of the Back Deck

 Saturday afternoon, we stopped by the new house to check out the most recent updates.  The exciting update this week was seeing the back deck start to take shape:

While we were there, I got a few other photos.  For some reason, I hadn't gotten any photos of the front office once the drywall had gone up.

I'm waiting to see the tiling start in the master bathroom.  I'm hoping it looks close to what I'm picturing in my head.

Brick Work and Mechanical Updates

 We were busy all weekend with events at opposite ends of the state, so we decided to stop by the house this evening after work. Most of the updates were either with the installation of the rocks or the hydromechanical HVAC system. There was signs where they had drilled in the back and some fancy piping in the basement. 

And  then there was the fireplace and front entrance.

A Nod to the Past

 When we were cleaning out the old house, we both realized that the front door was in really great shape, especially considering the age of it.  After talking about, we decided to put the door into storage in case it would be possible to use it for the new house. 

A month ago or so, the builder and his door person met Geff at the storage unit to check the door. Fortunately, they agreed that the door itself was in good shape and could be re-used in our new house. 

Sunday, we pulled the door out of storage and brought it to the new house.

We even found a piece of the glass that had originally been in the door and were able to save it.

Back Deck Footings

The cement crew must have been back. When we walked around to the backyard, we noticed that the footings for the back deck had been poured.

Inside Updates

We stopped by the house on Sunday and took a quick look at the most recent updates.  The most obvious update is the work on the fireplace.

They are using the same rocks for the fireplace as they are using for the outside trim:

Less obvious was the work being done in the closets.

Now, personally, seeing the shelves in the office made me happy. I can already picture the shelves loaded with fabric.

Other updates were the prep work taking place for the tile and flooring throughout.

They are also making great progress on the secondary bathroom and the other two bedrooms.

The second bathroom is basically ADA compliant. In the photo above, the toilet will be to the left of the shower bench.  There will be a gradual ramp up to the middle of the toilet and shower area and then it will ramp back down into the shower so that a wheelchair can be rolled into the shower area, if needed.

This next photo is in bedroom 3, which is where we had a dog door installed.  The boys definitely would not be happy not being able to go in and out on their own.

The Front Office

I have been focused on other areas of the house and have forgotten to take pictures of the front office now that the drywall is up.  Oops!

Here are two photos, though, from April 27 when the insulation had just been added.

And, these next photos show some of the framing and wiring that was in place on April 9:

The Basement

On May 29, we decided to see how the basement was faring with all the recent rain. The good news is that the basement was dry. 

This is going to be a huge storage area.

On April 16, we met our builder over at the new house.  These photos from the basement were taken that day.
